Friday Dish: The Alpha Male Hop

To my regular blog viewers you all know today is Friday Dish, but this week I’m participating in the Alpha Male Hop so the Friday Dish is all about the hop. What exactly is the Alpha Male Hop? I’ll let the hostess describe it in her own words.

What is your favorite thing about Alpha Heroes? Well, we authors are ready to share our favorite Alpha Males, our favorite things about them, and everything sexy and heated about those Alpha Males you can think of. *wink* Starting on Friday and ending on Oct 22nd, over 200 Authors and Bloggers will share their favorite things about those sexy men we know and love.

And while we do that, we are EACH doing a giveaway. Yep. There will be over 200 giveaways on each blog hosted by that Author or Blogger.

But that’s not all….

We have THREE grand prizes. You as a reader can go to EACH blog and comment with your email address and be entered to win. Yep, you can enter over 200 times!

Now what are those prizes?

1st Grand Prize: A Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet

2nd Grand Prize: A $130 Amazon or B&N Gift Card

3rd Grand Prize: The following Swag Pack!

There are so many things that makes an alpha male hot—confidence, determination, honesty are a few of the things that come to my mind. I think what I look for in an alpha male is the total psychological package. The alpha males I write range from the guy who has his life in order and knows what he’s doing, to the guy who is still trying to figure it out, but has no problem taking the helm in any given situation. I have willing heroes and reluctant heroes. But at the end of it all the alpha and beta male will go out on a limb to save his lady, or show her why he is the best man for her life.

Tanner Price, from Shadow Hills: Fallen Hero, is exactly that kind of alpha male; he has flaws, he comes with emotional baggage, but he’s a good man who will put his life on the line to protect the woman he loves. Shadow Hills is a series that ran for six months, kind of like a six-month soap opera without the serious melodrama. There’s drama for sure; there’s murder, mystery and definitely romance.

Shadow Hills January Cover

Small towns, big secrets.

Tanner Price, former Marine and now sheriff of Shadow Hills, thought he just might die of boredom until a mysterious woman arrived in town. Now all he can think about is uncovering this sexy vixen’s secret. Getting close to her could be dangerous. Will putting one woman’s betrayal behind him and opening his heart to love again turn out to be a mistake?

Excerpt:

“You’re nothing special anymore.” Tanner Price heard her words in his head far too often. He had to leave the Marine Corps after an injury took him out of active duty. He moved to the Montana mountain town, Shadow Hills, population five hundred, because they needed a sheriff and they were willing to give him the job. Natalie hadn’t been enthused the first time he mentioned the job. She had told him she wouldn’t go. He had thought about turning down the job to stay in Seattle, where she wanted to be. Never mind the fact that he hadn’t been able to get a job there worth anything to him. Natalie didn’t want to leave even if this was the best move for his career. She wanted to stay in Seattle, close to the military men. She was always addicted to military life and maybe knowing that should have given him pause before marrying her.

He laughed to himself as he slid on his thick gray socks. Natalie hadn’t even waited for the ink on the divorce papers to dry before she shacked up with somebody else.

“She’s his headache now,” he pulled on his boots. It had been a year now and he needed to let it go. He needed to get past her words—but so far he couldn’t.

Every day he felt lacking. Being a Marine was all he knew, all he wanted to be. He had trained under his father since he could walk—trained to be the best of the best. He had enlisted right after high school, did his college studies online so that he didn’t have to miss even a heartbeat of military life. And now he was just getting by as a sheriff of a small town where the height of excitement was Deek Saunders stallion jumping the fence  and going to graze in Lilly Jackson’s field.

“Tough job,” he mumbled as he pulled on the winter coat flagged with big yellow letters “Sheriff,” across the back. Until four months ago he thought he might die of boredom, but that was four months ago. That was before Anya McLane moved into town and opened her little boutique on Main Street. Now, boredom was the least of his worries. He was probably going to die of sexual frustration.

Shadow Hills: Fallen Hero is available now on Lulu, ARe, Amazon Kindle, and Barnes and Noble Nook. Since my gift is a mail out, my contest is open to U.S. residents only. Tell me about what makes a good alpha male character in your opinion for a chance to win a gift tin basket that includes 1-stress ball, key chain flashlight, ink pen, and a 2013 calendar magnet. Commenting will also get you entered for the grand prizes too. The swag pack portion of the grand prize is open for U.S. residents. Don’t forget to hop onward and get to know some of the other alpha male characters in this blog hop.

I love alpha heroes who are take charge men! They are loyal, loving and caring men. They usually have sexy looks, brains, money and a commanding presence that draws people. When they find their mates and fall in love they will move heaven and earth to stake their claim. This is exciting to watch even when they are not sure why they have to have or be with this particular person. An awesome love dance! It’s definitely addicting to read.

Thanks for the opportunity to win some great prizes.

  5. I love Alphas, because I need someone as confident and dominant as me to be an equal in our relationship – I hate the feeling as if partner is less powerful than me and cannot make it without me.

My favourite Alpha male is Gabriel from Annette Curtis Klause’s Blood and Chocolate, because he’s strong, confident and willing to fight for what he wants.

    Thanks for doing this!

  8. Awesome post. I like my alphas confident but they also need a sense of humor and some struggle with patience. Because it’s all too funny when an alpha struggles with that. xstitchdiva at att dot net

  10. Why I love Alpha Males is no real surprise! The perfect Alpha Male for me could be a Vampire, a Scottish Laird, an English Rogue/Gentleman, a Werewolf or Shape-shifter, or a Knight. He’s the rogue who thinks he can’t be reformed into a gentleman. He’s the rough and scarred Scottish laird that has a heart of gold. He’s the werewolf or shape-shifter that needs to heal an aching heart because it took him years to find his true mate. He’s the vampire who has waited decades for that special someone’s blood to sing to him and wake him up. And he’s the knight who can defeat the enemy with a quick swing of his sword, but can’t see the love in front of his face. My Alpha Male has eyes that can see into your soul and are as blue as the sea, or as black as a storm. He’s tall and brooding. His heart can enfold you into its grasp and make you fall in love when he gives it to you freely and completely. He is protective and passionate. In the end he is the one that makes your heart jump and butterflies fly in your stomach, and still kiss you until your legs melt!

  13. Alpha males are awesome! Betas are too so got to love them ALL!
They can be dark and mysterious, but mostly have to be protective, humorous, loving, strong, and just be themselves. Also not be afriad to surrender to a lady.

  14. For me a good alpha male is a leader, confident, intelligent, and most important for me is an amazingly sarcastic sense of humor! That is just in books though. In real life, I am all about the betas. I am too much alpha to have another in my life! Thanks for participating in the blog hop! I am having a great time.
    Best Wishes,

  15. An alpha knows how to take charge. They have to be strong and tough. I also like my alpha males to have a soft spot for the heroine. I also like a sense of humor. I don’t feel like all alphas have to be brooding. Thanks for the giveaway.

  18. Alpha males are the best….strong, independent, fiercely protective, but on the inside they are nothing but a big ol’ teddy bear! I love the way their mouths talk filthy, but their eyes portray their sensitive sweet. They can be rough and tough in the bedroom, but still have the gentle caress of an attentive and protective lover. It’s all in the heart…..alpha males are the best!

Jack Gordon from Liz Crowe’s REALTOR series rocks!

Thanks for participating in the hop!
